The United States elections have always attracted the focus of global media, analysts and policy makers as they display a future picture of the world. The United States elections for the President that were held recently showed some amazing and interesting competition between Donald Trump and Joe Biden. Joe Biden got more than 75 million votes most by any president ever elected in US history and finally he became the 46th president of US by beating Donald Trump. In the last 25 years Donald Trump is the only US president that couldn’t be elected for the second term. These elections also witnessed the first Asian American Kamala Harris to be elected as Vice President of United States of America.

US Elections 2020

The emergence of Joe Biden as US president will change the whole global scenario of politics, especially in South Asia. Biden’s election will become a reason of stability and predictability in the region which was destroyed in the reign of President Trump. Pakistan and India are the two main powers in this area and administration of both the countries have started preparations to get maximum benefit from president Joe Biden’s administration. Our Prime Minister Imran Khan tweeted congratulations to both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on getting elected as President and Vice President respectively. His tweet was special as it showed the concerns about the Islamabad’s policy that could take the shape of a challenge in the run of Joe Biden.

Trump had implemented extreme policies like immigration ban, trade ban with China, Mexican wall and anti-Muslim stance. It is expected that president Joe Biden would remove all these restrictions and bans and bring global politics back to a normal state. The only thing good in the reign of President Donald Trump is that there was no new war started but if you look the tenure of previous presidents war started somewhere around the world. The US Voice President raised her voice for the people of Indian occupied Kashmir when India violated article 370 of constitution in August last year. She also told the Indian PM Modi that “we are watching” and also called him out on abuse in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

Pakistan awarded Joe Biden with Hilal-e-Pakistan

The previous President Trump lashed at Pakistan at various international platforms. So, that’s why the relation between US and Pakistan was bitter in his tenure. On the other hand Biden always had good relations with Pakistan so, that’s why Pakistan is rooting for him. In 2008 Joe Biden was awarded 2nd highest civilian award of Pakistan “Hilal-e-Pakistan”. He was the person behind proposing to give 1.5 billion dollars non-military aid to Pakistan. Same like Pakistan, India is also hoping that its relation with US could be improved in the administration of Biden. He also mentioned in his election campaign that India and US are natural partners, and he will try his level best to improve this relationship. As no global issue could be solved if these two countries do not sit together. Other than the setback that Biden will be more interested in India than Pakistan, another factor that people of Pakistan are ignoring his love and support of Israel. He said “I’m a Zionist. You don’t need to be a Jew to be a Zionist”. The Vice President Kamala Harris is also inclined towards Israel. And there is no ray of light for the people of Palestine. She said in a speech in 2017 that she supported US providing 38 billion dollars to Israel for military aid. She said multiple times that “We should stand with Israel”. But one thing is for sure that this administration will be more consistent and stable than that of Trump and will bring things back to normal.
